I worked here as a housekeeper. The pay is very low and they don't want to pay housekeepers anything. Very good hours BUT, you only get one day off a week. We are responsible for cleaning 25-35 rooms a day. That's ridiculous. You're always tired and burnout. Always short staff so other workers suffer because of it. These housekeepers work too hard to be getting paid what they get. Marriott needs to do better!!!
Lunch breaks are only 30 minutes and the company doesn't pay for it.
i work at the one next to the airport in san diego ca for a year now and long story short dont get your hope up on getting a raise after working there for a year cause thats a lie they will over work you to the point where you wanna cry cause at least 3 of my coworkers have cried out of pure stress cause again they love to over work you and they always never have enough people working there to ease the workflow they will threaten to fire or write you up for not finish all your room (as a housekeeper) even tho they give you so many rooms to do in so little time that its f*cking impossible and the managers love to blame housekeeping for everything JUST DONT EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME WORKING FOR THIS COMPANY PERIOD
free health care and free stuff if the guest leave anything once they check out and tips from guest
everything beside the small pros i just listed
The Housekeeping Team were fun, friendly and it was a happy place to work. We were a Happy work Family that worked well together
My department management, HR, and co workers were all a great team to work with. They made me feel as I was part of a happy family. I looked forward to wanting to go to work each day. If I hadn't gotten sick I would still be there. My health has limitations that is required for my housekeeping position.
Free Lunch and your health was a top priority.
Working outside without carts, having too carry linens back and forth by hand.
No management skills at all from the gm. She openly admitted. Then they put a kitchen help to housekeeping superior with no experience.
A joke. Dont wadte your time. Pay is not even minimum wage. And they force you to work over your 8 hrs even after signing a availability form. They have their favorites and if your not it, well lets just say its not a good ending
sometimes no breaks no lunches. Made stay after past your 8 hrs
Marriot is a great company to work for, great benefits and higher then normal pay.BUT the Housekeeping Dept at the new Ocean Front Hotel is terrible!I really hope the new male supervisor can figure things out and get them straight. When I was hired on the spot back in June, i was hired at $20 per hour. Yes, summer incentive BUT that was not made clear to me until 9 days after i started working there. To get that $20 your rooms have to be above 90% cleaniness, perfect attendance, be on time every time AND THE BIGGEST KICKER OF THEM ALL.....YOU HAVE TO HAVE ALL YOUR ROOMS DONE BY THE END OF YOUR 8HR SHIFT. SOUNDS EASY, RIGHT?Well you cannot complete 9 to 16 rooms by yourself in a 8hr period when check out isnt until 11 (80% of guest stay later 12 to 4pm) Also your different levels of the Marriot Rewards program determines your check out time, for instance if you are a titanium member your check out is at 4pm. That many rooms to be done to their check list standards is impossible! Yes, many girls get all their rooms done in that time, HOW? Well they cut corners! Dont vacuum, sweep, mop, change sheets. I was paired with 7 different partners and ONLY 1 did it 100% right, and correct to their standards. They are blind to that factor. On top of running floor to floor trying to find supplies, sheets, towels. Super busy weekend but the night time house men or early morning housemen dont do their jobs, so when housekeeping comes in and are ready to work...closets are in disarray, no supplies, carts used for housekeeping are DISGUSTING, trash left on them, old wet towels, sheets, - more...
Many many things
Way under minimum wage to start. They will over work you b.c everyone quits and then you have to do thier job. There is NO communication between anyone so you constantly get taken from doing your job to have like 3 different ppl repeat the same thing. NO SUPPLIES FOR GUESTS EVER, so they will then yell at you if a guest is unhappy. Filthy too, most linens have stains or smell.
Guests are nice sometimes
Managment will talk bad about guests and employees
